This policy covers personal information you give us through this website, by email or by phone. Other websites we link to have their own privacy policies.
2. What we collect
When you ask for a quote
Our quote form asks for your first and last name, phone number and email address, the addresses you’re moving from and to, your moving date, the size of your property, any services you need (such as storage, packing, piano moving, or antiques and fine art), whether you’d like a home survey, and any notes you add.
When you call or email us
Your name, contact details and whatever you choose to tell us about your move or storage.
When you visit this website
Our website platform, Wix, records technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, to deliver the site and keep it secure. Our cookie policy explains the cookies and similar technologies involved.
Please don’t send us sensitive information, such as health details, unless it’s needed for your move.
3. How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange a home visit
- To prepare your quote
- To carry out your move or store your belongings
- To keep the records we need for accounting and legal reasons
- To run and secure this website
- To see how the website is used, if you accept analytics cookies
We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t make decisions about you using automated processing or profiling.
4. Our lawful basis
Under UK data protection law we rely on:
- Steps before a contract, and the contract itself: when you ask for a quote, book a move or store with us
- Legal obligation: where we must keep records, for example for tax
- Legitimate interests: answering general enquiries, and running and securing this website
- Consent: for analytics and map cookies. The Google map loads if you accept optional cookies, or when you choose to show it. You can withdraw consent at any time through cookie settings.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the services we use to run the business, and only as far as they need it:
- Wix.com, which hosts this website and processes quote-form submissions for us
- Our email provider, which stores our emails
- Google, which provides the fonts on this website, the map if you choose to show it, and Google Analytics if you accept analytics cookies
We may also have to share information if the law requires it, for example in legal proceedings, under a court order or at the request of a government authority.
6. Where it’s stored
Our website provider, Wix, and Google may store and process personal information outside the UK, including in the United States. When they do, they rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the reason it was collected.
Enquiries that don’t lead to a booking are deleted once we no longer need them to answer you. Records of moves and storage agreements are kept for as long as we need them for accounting, tax and legal reasons.
8. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right:
- to be told how we use your personal information
- to ask for a copy of it
- to have it corrected if it’s wrong or incomplete
- to have it deleted
- to restrict how we use it
- to object to us using it
- to data portability, where it applies
- to withdraw consent, where we rely on consent
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1.
9. Asking for your data
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you by email or post. There’s normally no charge. If a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, for example repeated requests, we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse it.
We’ll respond within one month of receiving your request. If a request is complex, we may extend this by up to two further months, and we’ll tell you if we do.
10. Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab) or on 0303 123 1113.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
