Brian Egdell started the business at 27 with a single truck. More than fifty years on, his son Sheldon runs it from the same town.
How it started
One man, one truck, and a town full of moves.
Brian Egdell set up Brian & Sons in 1970, at the age of 27. He started with one truck, moving homes and businesses for people in and around Alnwick.
As demand grew, Brian saw the chance to expand, and took the business further afield. Today it carries out removals right across the UK, alongside containerised storage in Alnwick.

Aged 27, Brian Egdell starts the business with a single truck, offering removals to local homeowners and businesses.

With demand rising, Brian takes the business further afield and adds to the fleet as his sons, Sheldon and Nathan, become old enough to drive.

Moving and storing
After a few years working alongside his father, Sheldon suggests the business would benefit from a storage service. Brian agrees, and welcomes his enthusiasm.

Brian passed away in November 2014. His business, and his legacy, carry on in the hands of his son Sheldon.
